Inmates have permission to receive reading material in the mail that is sent directly from the publisher to the prison. All books are required to be new and paperback.

Phone calls

Inmates at the FCI Elkton are allowed to make collect calls to their loved ones, however, they are not allowed to receive calls. In the case of an emergency, such as a death of a family member the staff will be able to take a message for the inmate and call them back.


Please follow the prison dress code rules when visiting an inmate at the FCI Elkton. Failure to follow these rules will result in the cancelation of the visit. The articles of clothing listed below are not allowed to be worn when visiting so please choose to wear clothing that is modest:

  • bathing suits

  • see-through garments of any kind

  • crop tops

  • miniskirts

  • backless tops

  • hats or caps

  • sleeveless garments

  • revealing shorts

  • halter tops

  • low-cut blouses or dresses

  • skirts two inches or more above the knee

  • dresses or skirts with a high-cut split in the back, front, or side

  • Leotards

  • Spandex

  • clothing that looks like inmate clothing (khaki or green military-type clothing)

Before you are allowed to visit an inmate you will need to be on the inmate’s approved visiting list and approved by the BOP. You can get this prosses started by filling out this form then send it to the inmate. Once you are approved the inmate will let you know you can come and visit.
